Hanna Maria is co-founder of Melantónia, a collective of artists working in the field of sound and visual arts adapted to ambient and experimental music.
Coming from different artistic backgrounds, its members pursue the common goal of creating unusual soundscapes through experimentation with acoustic, electroacoustic, and electronic instruments.
As main coordinator of the interdisciplinary project, she curates its monthly radio show on Fango Radio (Italy), as well as the collective’s ambient and experimental music events.

She is a feminist researcher and PhD-Student in the field of Educational Science and Gender Studies. In May 2020, she submitted her dissertation in the field of critical masculinity studies, in which she presents a critical quantitative analysis on the current theoretical understanding of Caring Masculinities.

Together with Mattia Onori, she works on a new approach to sound, seen not only as a form of art but also as a form of education. By uniting their individual professions for a common purpose, they produce and perform a melancholic ambient sound that integrates angelic voices with instrumental experimentation. After the live debut of their show 'Innere Unruhe' for the label Vaagner, Hanna Maria & Mattia Onori released music for Grand River's 'One Instrument' and are currently working on the first record of Melantónia itself, with remixes by Plants Army Revolver and Feral.
